You must attend a qualifying VMware authorized course, as per the requirements listed here: http://mylearn.vmware.com/mgrReg/plan.cfm?plan=12457&ui=www_cert
You can still self-study and take the test, but you will not have the VCP-DCV certification until the course requirement is met.
