I've started new thread (VMWare ESXi or Linux+Workstation for home server ?) but as I see, almost all info is already in this thread 
. As I understand, XBMC (on Linux) will work ok inside ESXi, there're a lot of success stories here. The question for me now is the HW platform to buy - Xeon (Intel Xeon E5-2620 Sandy Bridge-EP (2000MHz, LGA2011, L3 15360Kb) + MB ASUS Z9PE-D8 WS (7xPCI-e x16 is very yummy ) for example) or i7 (Intel Core i7-3820 Sandy Bridge-E (3600MHz, LGA2011, L3 10240Kb) + MB ASRock X79 Extreme9 for example). Which one is better for ESXi (there will be a lot of passthrough devices) ?
