ps - earlier versions of VMware products (in the 4.1 and earlier versions did limit the number of cores depending on the license. So an "enterprise" license allowed more cores per physical cpu than a "standard" did - but afaik that ended with 5.x and now the number of cores per CPU is not licensed.
