After a fresh install of esxi 5.1 I set a static ip to the management network. I can ping both from the esxi host to my desktop and from my desktop to the esxi host. Once I start a connection from vmware client to the esxi host the ping fails and I can't make any further connection to the esxi host. Any thoughts?
