I see, thanks for clarifying this, but now i'm having another problem.

I'm trying to generate the core file, since the OS i'm running is Ubuntu 16.04 with 4.4.0 kernel I've used the script found here (with some modifications, the rsp0 changed to sp0 for newer kernels)

http://stackframe.blogspot.co.il/2007/10/configuring-application-debugging-with.html

to generete to core file im using the following command

vmss2core -l 0x404,0x3a0,0x0,0x350,0x600,0x448,0x9c0,0x40,0x18,0x30,0x4000,0x488,0x4f8,0x10 -N debug.guest debug.vmem

but i get the following error

vmss2core version 5528349 Copyright (C) 1998-2017 VMware, Inc. All rights reserved.

VCPUs=2 memSize=0x80000

GuestDumpInitRegionInfo: regionInfo.count=1

What am i doing wrong ?

Which version of vRA  do you refer to?

I remember similar issue in vRA 7.1 that got resolved in vRA 7.2.

Re: Crash Consistent and application consistent backup for the same job

That would be in the logs.

The logs are at:

/usr/local/avamarclient/var

The log we need is >backup-job-name>-*EPOCH*-vmimagew.log

You can search by keyword "VDP-" and it will take you to the part where the snapshot task is initiated.

Hi,

You really should open your own topic about it as we know nothing about your setup except "similar" issue.

Even if you are getting similar results they can have completely different origins.

FWIW, as you tagged on to this thread and if you are also running Bitdefender Anti-Virus (2017) like TS then try uninstalling bitdefender.

Note that disabling the antivirus is not too likely to help, only an uninstall of the antivirus product can exclude it from triggering this type of issue.

It has been reported that uninstalling bitdefender and using an older version to fix issues with locking up for at least one person.

Cannot run windows 7 on Mac OS X sierra

Hello!

I just got a new MacBook Air and it got latest version of OS X Sierra 10.12.5. I have an old license of VMWare Fusion 5 and I have installed that. I have also run my windows 7 license from my iso-file.

When I now try to play the image windows 7 it gives me the message "VMWare Fusion cannot connect to the virtual machine - Make sure you have the right to run the program, access all directories the program uses, and access all directories for temporary files."

Ive follow KB article that suggest to check that the VMWare folder under ~/Library/Logs is set to Read&Write and I can confirm.

Had this issue on VMware Fusion 8 Pro as well.  Thanks for sharing @jcui0122 !  Deleted a reference to an old vm and that solved my problem.

I also learned that you must access the appliance by FQDN rather than IP or it fails.

Re: Cant Open edit setting of any vm

Sorry to hear that then. It sounds like an ESXi host reboot is the only option. Best to plan for the best time to do the reboot and plan a shutdown/startup order. Situations like these are good opportunities to discuss possible expansion of redundancy with an additional host with vCenter to avoid the issue in the future. Additional costs but saves pain down the road.

Re: endpointconfiguration.error.secure.fields.not.supported

Only a solution user can get the password. That's a restriction. So you will need to get vIDM based solution user token.

If DHCP, the state data collection collects the primary IP address. By default it is 15 minutes cycle unless you change it.

Re: vRA with SCCM VirtualSccmProvisioning Workflow

Go into SCCM directly and right click on the target collection where you intend to register machine. If you see "Add Resources" option disabled then you won't be able to do the same thing from vRA. If it is enabled then it may be some other problem. But I suggest to check upon that first.

Re: Cannot run windows 7 on Mac OS X sierra

Hello,

The problem is not Windows 7, but the host macOS version, apple has made non compatible changes in Sierra making the old Fusion to no longer work.

You need at least Fusion 8 in order to be able to run it on macOS Sierra (well technically you can have some form of success with VMware Fusion 7, but there will be some issues)

So the only thing you can do at this moment is to uninstall Fusion 5 and then get the trial version.

If you want to test the newer version to see if it is worth your spending you can install and run a 30 day fully functional version before actually committing to spending anything.

After the 30 days, you buy a license to change the installed Fusion into an unlimited version.

Direct Download link to Fusion evaluation

Hope this helps,

ESXi 5.5 Another Datastore missing

I've been struggling to recover a missing local vfms 5 datastore, the LUN is visible but refreshing and or rescanning the Datastore just does not appear.

I am unable to mount in CLI either.

The HP SmartArray P400i controller shows the disks as ok although the boot information shows

1720 - S.M.A.R.T. Hard Drive(s) Detect Imminent Failure Port 2I: Box 1: Bay 4 - suggesting a SAS disk issue is imminent.

Is there anything I can do to recover a vm from this missing Datastore?

How to test Route base on source MAC Hash

Hi,

I don't know how to test whether does it work or not because my ESX always presents with vkernel port MAC address (i have 2 physical cards). How to check which card is used ?

I can set backup only as crash consistent task?

Re: VMWare workstation monitor.suspend_on_triplefault fails

Unless you're actually using Red Hat Linux and its crash utility, I'd drop the "-l" and "-N" options from the vmss2core command line – just give vmss2core the filenames for debug.{guest, vmem}, nothing else.  Does it still fail?

Can you post a vmware.log showing the failure here in the forums?  Just use the attach button in the lower-right when composing a reply... please don't copy-and-paste the entire log.  I'll take a peek at the log and see if I can provide some guidance.

Cheers,
